Ben Hueso
Ben Hueso, a Democratic politician, serves as City Council President[1] in San Diego, California, and chairs its Rules, Open Government and Intergovernmental Relations Committee. He was elected in 2005 and reelected in 2006 to represent District 8, which has a population of nearly 170,000. Economic resources in the district include the Naval Base San Diego, the Nasco Shipyards, two international border crossings, and Brown Field Municipal Airport. Environmentally significant areas in District 8 include portions of the Tijuana River Valley County Park and the Otay Valley Regional Park. Regionally, Hueso serves on the San Diego Association of Governments[2] (SANDAG) Board of Directors[3] and Borders Committee[4]. Statewide, he serves on the California Coastal Commission[5].

Hueso graduated with distinction from Point Loma High School and from University of California, Los Angeles with a degree in Sociology/Urban Studies and Planning. He studied at thee University of Odessa, Ukraine and completed post-graduate work in Community and Economic Development at San Diego State University.

Hueso is a lifelong resident of Logan Heights in San Diego's District 8. He is married to Laura Hueso; they have 4 sons.
